Drugs?

i think this is my first debatable topic.

for anyone who has experimented with recreational drugs or who knows about someone who has how do you think they can change you for the better as well as for the worse?

i know a few ways in which they really changed me, i was very shy and never felt compfortable around people until i had my first experience and felt totally unhibited around a room full of people (talking in retrospect) and i never forgot what that felt like - it opened my mind and i learned to become much more confident.

Simon, My opinion is that drugs are bad and dangerous and cause more harm than good. I know they may do some good for some people.

You could say paranoia is one adverse affect

Heathen, I gotta say alchohol is my favorite drug . Some people claim it is a stimulant and others claim a depressant but it can be a very dangerous substance to abuse and is probly the most lethal drug on the planet .There is nothing better than a couple of beers to relax and party with as far as I'm concerned .

Actually, I was talking about ecstasy in particular. I’m not big into drugs but I like to now and again. I smoke stuff now and again but I would never touch hallucinogens with a barge pole. The fact is, more than now and again, and it isn’t much of an experience in the long run. I like my brain and I don’t want it to end up like a lot of people I know and them fried eggs above-teenyuck.

LyinEyes, if your fearful of taking anything then whatever you do, DON’T (I don’t get the impression you would, anyway ) or you could have a very, very bad experience. The comedown isn’t that bad. Well it all depends. Why are you taking? If you are taking because you’re down or as escapism from a bad situation then you’ll come crashing down if not you’ll be fine unless you go completely overboard.

Someone I know who was a player in the music business has had half of his stomach cut out with cancer due to his rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle – had a good time but is it worth it? He can trip at will apparently (Made me laugh but I think it’s true, you get lost just looking into his eyes) but he has also experienced a lot of his friends dying due to heroin addiction and he has talked about some of the more personal stuff to me - I feel very sad for him, definately not the way to go.

Valis, what are methamphetamines exactly? I have a friend who’s more into drugs, he gets MDMA powder, is this safer?

I think the British governments stand on drugs and education is a joke but I think it's different in America. I was watching an American chat show on a drugs topic when they put it out to the audience - well, they knew a lot and knew what they were talking about. I think the British way of dealing with it is rediculas spin and then put your head in the sand - copying WTS tactics no doubt!

I know a few ways in which they really changed me, I was very shy and never felt compfortable around people until I had my first experience and felt totally unhibited around a room full of people (talking in retrospect) and I never forgot what that felt like - it opened my mind and I learned to become much more confident. Also, I get on with women much better cos I can talk to them very personally without letting other stuff get in the way. I have closer female friends. One of the most genuinely loving people I've met is female, she told me she's bi-sexual, obviously because at the time I was not very worldly wise I did't really understand where she was coming from (I knew what a bi-sexual was in theory but not in mind). I've learnt so much positive stuff from her and she has made me a much better person for it, personally she would never touch drugs.

Then again I know a guy who got into drugs and he's in a complete mess and has been for a lot of his life.

I think the GB men need to get out of there ivory tower once in a while and see what's really going on in their organisation!

As a loyal JW, what made you to start doubting the Watchtower ???

i'm sure all of us were loyal at one time to the watchtower, believing in all of it.

(some of us probaly hated it from day one as well but, ).

what were some of the first things that happened or were said, that made you to start doubting it and beginning the loss of your loyalty to the organization ??????.

The hypocrisy was always clear to me; it’s so blatant when you’re in it.

Initially, I just doubted it on a personal level. Everyone on the platform etc was telling us how good we should feel but it was obvious that no-body did. I was always depressed and felt ‘strange’ in society. I knew people weren’t as bad and extreme as they always taught, for Christ’s sake, from being very young, I used to meet them in service and a lot of people were really nice. I used to think a lot were much nicer than JW’s when I was very young because they had nothing on there backs telling them how to behave, they were just naturally nice people. I felt embarrassed the amount of times we used to have to knock on there doors – I always used to think if the shoe was on the other foot I would be soooo pissed but most weren’t!

Then I would go back to the meetings and again they would just bash the world, how bad and evil it is (blah, blah, blah). How all these just normal people who I met every week are doomed without the knowledge we had and how they were considered compared to us before God.

Then one day I literally had enough of all this crap because it was making me into a very depressed and stunted person. So I came to the conclusion that the only way forward was to start afresh in my mind – everything from beliefs to morals – everything, I thought I’d just learn from lives experiences. I figured I couldn’t do any worse than I already felt so I gave it a bash and never looked back.

Then years later I found Free Minds on the web, this was just icing on the cake, I didn’t need it to make up my mind but it helped me heal and this is when I started to really move on with my life free from a lot of the hidden JW programming that I didn’t realise was still in me.

the 6-1-2003 wt is not talking about trevelation prophecy, but is talking about ezekiel and daniel prophecy.

Hi Hamas,

Don't worry about it too much, I lost it a long time ago, probably never find 'it' again but it's OK, u get used to it eventually and start to figure stuff out eventually, until the next time - then u do it again.

If you're having a bad day, email me, you already got my email address. I know you aren't afraid to speak your mind and that's what I like about you mate!

Nice thread, Andi!

I used to suffer from depression as a JW , it affected my life very negatively in a lot of ways and really affected my relationship with other people but I've come a loooooooooong way since then.

You're absolutely right with time things do get better. Just keep at it, other people cannot understand how you feel and think, everyone is unique, you've gotta be that individual.

This is impossible if you are a JW unless you 'agree' to do it 'their way' and close your mind to the world. I didn't realise how genuine and nice a lot of people really are without being force-fed the junk that I was. I'm now starting to make real friends.

Anyone know where u can post your own music on the web?

hi everyone, i'll be finishing my first tracks next week but i'm wondering where i can put them on the web.

i've heard of peoplesound.com but i listened to some of the music there and i was wondering if you know of anywhere better?

it's a mixture of dance and deep electronic music.. the first tune will be called "borg loved", the second "for all fallen angels" dedicated to everyone at jwd,cos you're the best and especially everyone at free minds.. be wise.

They will be available for free download anyway. I just want people to hear them and enjoy the music. Really the musician is just a passable commodity but I enjoy what I do so I'm not concerned with all that at the moment but I can totally understand people who are trying to make a living by it, it must be very frustrating to say the least, most hopeful musicians have a day job anyway somewhere in the business.

Hippikon, what does your name mean? I've heard much worse song names than 'hippikon can groove'.

Hamas, cheers I might, as soon as I get them copyrighted. I know someone at work who said he'll help me design a website - he's studying web design at college but thanks for the offer. I might anyway seen as it is related to ex-JW's.

Rocketman, practically anyone can write there own music now at home and maybe hire a studio for a night, it's extremely cheap to make even though it still takes a lot of work (not half as much as it used to though!) but the downside is it's very easy to copy. It's definately not a musicians world when it comes to marketing it but at least it isn't priviledged to a small few who can afford the gear and studio use and marketing as it was years ago. You can also get cheaper studio time if you work through the night. I don't think anyone knows where it's going at the moment.
